Donation to The Veterans Charity
On Friday 20 February 2026 two members of BradworthyCarnival Committee went to the Head Office of The Veterans Charity based in Barnstaple to hand over a donation cheque, both members are Veterans.
We were met and hosted by the CEO Danny Greeno who was excited that Bradworthy Carnival Committee had selected The Veterans Charity as a worthy cause to donate to.
Danny gave us a potted history of why, when and how the charity got established and what its initial aim was. This was to raise funds to erect permanent Memorials to those who had not been properly recognised for their bravery and actions in France during WWII.
Once that was completed they needed a new direction. This new direction is helping current Veterans in need, they work with other agencies and services as well as other military charities and associations to help any Veteran from any service.
We asked Danny about a typical week in the Veterans Charity calendar, he explained that the majority of charities, although with great intention, cannot act promptly because of how they operate. Visiting the veteran, filling in forms, reviewing, verifying and then action, whereas The Veterans Charity are like a quick reaction force who take on helping veterans immediately.
They complete their due diligence to that confirm service in the military and are then able to provide various services such as a fortnights shopping which they do online from their offices and get delivered to the recipient, counselling, advice, a home, a refuge, or petrol to get to work, hospital appointments or an interview.
Danny told us they had bought and paid for 37 Veterans On line shopping that week alone, while discussing this one of the Charities colleagues said he had just started another on line shop to be delivered locally that day. (20 Feb)
The Veterans Charity is a very worthwhile cause.
Danny was excited and grateful to accept the donation cheque and thanked all the people involved in the Carnival and the people of Bradworthy for making it possible
Thank you Bradworthy
